ANNOUNCEMENT: Dr. Patrick McGill Named New Superintendent of Benjamin School District 25
It is with great enthusiasm that the Board of Education announces that Dr. Patrick McGill is the new Superintendent of Benjamin School District 25. Dr. McGill will officially begin his tenure as Superintendent on July 1st 2025, bringing with him a wealth of experience, a proven record of academic excellence, and a deep commitment to fostering student growth and achievement.
Dr. McGill comes to Benjamin SD25 from Glenbard Township High School District 87, where he has served as the Executive Director for Teaching and Learning. His leadership was instrumental in redesigning the district’s strategic work plan, developing key partnerships with Glenbard's six K-8 sender districts, and increased student achievement across the district. Under his leadership, Glenbard students’ SAT scores surpassed the Illinois state average by 57 points, and Dual Credit enrollment soared from 152 students in 2021 to 2,723 students in 2024.
Prior to Glenbard, as principal of George Westinghouse College Prep, Dr. McGill transformed the school from “unranked” to the #22 Best High School in Illinois according to U.S. News & World Report. During his time there, he improved the graduation rate from 85% to 98%, increased college enrollment rates from 77% to 93%, and led the school to exceed both district and state SAT growth in all grade levels. These leadership experiences have given Dr. McGill a clear vision of student success from Pre-K through College.
Dr. McGill holds a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from National Louis University, an MBA from Loyola University Chicago, and a Doctor of Education in Urban Education Leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He lives in South Elgin, Illinois, where he and his wife, Tara, are raising their six sons, Jack (11), Gabriel (8), Quinn (6), Theodore (4), Micah (2), and Simon (6m). His leadership is grounded in the values of family, community, and the belief that every child has the potential to succeed.
